GEN David Petraeus visited the DFAC on Camp, Taji Iraq during the Surge at Thanksgiving, 2007. I was a server along with other staff Captains and these coins were placed on the top of the buffet line. This coin is the MNF-Iraq CDR coin. We had spent the summer implementing "Clear, Hold, Build" and it seemed to be working- along with the Awakening out in Anbar which was helping our Sunni insurgency problem in Tarmiyah. Holidays during the Surge was tough- 2x Thanksgivings, 2x Christmases. You make special bonds with the men and women you serve with- bonds that are strong to this day. I have a special place in my heart for KBR ravioli and mozzarella cheese sticks.
