This is the 1st Special Troops Battalion coin for OIF 09-10—"CENTURIONS." The 1st STB operated at JSS War Eagle, Tarmiyah, Taji, Sadr City, Adamiya, and Istiqlal, all north of Baghdad. I relinquished command of the MICO near the end of the deployment, with a few months remaining before redeployment. For those final months, I served as the assistant BCT S2 for the brigade. I remember working in the SCIF amid all the Christmas decorations as the brigade closed out its final deployment to Iraq after multiple back-to-back-to-back deployments to the Baghdad area.
