Recorded Account

This coin is the G2 coin for the US Army Central and 3rd Army G2 "LUCKY 2". US Army Central (ARCENT) and 3rd Army is know as PATTON'S OWN, and draws it lineage from 3rd Army. Within the Third Army HQs, staff sections used callsigns built around "Lucky"- Patton's own reflections that units "make their own luck"- and that luck was less superstition and more a mindset of inevitability and confidence. Success was expected, and officers assumed offensive advantage. "If your headquarters talks like it's lucky, plans like it's inevitable, and moves like its unstoppable- you start to behave that way." The intelligence enterprise of US Army Central and 3rd Army is comprised of the Soldiers and Civilians of the intelligence directorate at Shaw Air Forces Base, SC (ARCENT HQs) and the exceptional Soldiers and Civilians of the 513th MI BDE at Fort Gordon, Georgia. For 20 years of the Global War on Terrorism, through humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, the 12-Day War and Operation EPIC Fury, the men and women of the ARCENT G2 continue to dominate the intelligence war fighting function in support of LTG Patrick Frank and the entire US ARCENT and 3rd Army staff.
